Workforce Development

The Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly, or PACE, was established by Medicare to help independent seniors with complex medical needs. The program helps senior participants avoid nursing homes by allowing them to receive services necessary to their health and safety from the comfort of home while also having the opportunity to participate in group activities and receive personalized care.

About Workforce Development

In the past year, both Los Angeles and Orange counties saw a dramatic spike in the number of unemployed residents. With a rise in pay cuts and job loss came food insecurity, inability to pay rent and decreased access to healthcare.

Throughout the many struggles that came with the pandemic, AltaMed maintained a focus on workforce development to combat the dangerous residual eects of unemployment. AltaMed’s Workforce Development initiative consists of a collection of pipeline programs that prepare youth and promising future medical professionals within our communities for higher education and employment opportunities. Programs such as medical assistant training, fellowships, and internships create work opportunities directly within the communities we serve. Through outreach programs and partnerships with community organizations, elected ocials, schools, and more, we make our communities better places to live, work, and play.

AltaMed provides mentoring and hands-on opportunities for aspiring health care workers at every level to expand their skill sets in order to forge successful careers in the medical industry. We empower nearly 3,200 employees in medicine, nursing, social work, dentistry, mental health, and health administration to work boldly – bringing their best ideas and greatest strengths to our facilities every day – and to live brilliantly, applying that same energy and purpose to their lives and communities outside.

In Los Angeles and Orange counties, AltaMed oers promising career opportunities in:

  • Business Services Support
  • Clinical Support
  • Dental
  • Nursing
  • Nursing Leadership
  • Physician / Nurse Practitioners
