AltaMed Arts Giving Circle

The Arts Giving Circle brings together individuals who are invested in AltaMed’s success, understand — or are eager to learn — how art strengthens wellness and healing at AltaMed, and have an interest in arts and culture. AltaMed owns the largest Chicano and Mexican Art Collection in the country, the only one that informs a health and wellness practice.

As part of our commitment to overall community well-being, all AltaMed clinics display works from the AltaMed Art Collection, ensuring our patients see their own voices and experiences represented in ways that inspire confidence, hope, and healing.

AltaMed’s Arts Giving Circle offers its members an opportunity to invest in AltaMed and make an impact. Member contributions directly support innovative programming, including building awareness of the importance and relevance of Chicano and Mexican art in Los Angeles and across the nation. Members of the Arts Giving Circle are asked to make a minimum annual gift of $1,000 paid over a 12-month period or in one lump sum.

Make an Impact

AltaMed Arts Giving Circle Members can serve as ambassadors, highlighting the importance of the AltaMed Art Collection. Members can also identify other art enthusiasts who may be interested in joining AltaMed’s Art Giving Circle. Additionally, some Members can co-host or attend intimate friend-raising and fundraising gatherings that build awareness.

Funds raised as part of this Arts Giving Circle will support four central programs:

  1. School Program to partner with local school districts to bring students and teachers to visit the AltaMed Art Collection and develop standards-based curriculum around Chicano and Mexican art;
  2. On-site Residency Program to bring scholars, curators, and students from around the world to study the AltaMed Art Collection, connect with healthcare providers, and create new research and artwork;
  3. Exhibition Program in The Alta gallery space with two Chicano and Mexican art exhibitions each year, related publications, and public programming; and
  4. Art Storage Program to provide a safe and professional environment at the highest standards to care for the AltaMed Art Collection, inviting the public to visit and view the artwork up close, accompanied by staff.

These four programs take place principally at The Alta, a 30,000-square-foot incubator space in Montebello that supports our larger arts and wellness efforts, providing opportunities to create new programming, serve the public, and grow our community, which will then be scaled regionally and nationally.
