East L.A. Meets Napa Raises More Than $650,000 to Support Whole-Person Care

More than 300 supporters gathered for the 17th Annual East L.A. Meets Napa, raising more than $650,000 to advance whole-person care and support AltaMed programs through the H.E.L.P. Powered by You Campaign.

Held at Union Station on July 31, just steps from El Pueblo de Los Angeles — the birthplace of Los Angeles — the 17th Annual East L.A. Meets Napa reflected the diverse communities AltaMed serves every day.

The annual event brought together hundreds of supporters and community partners for a celebration of Latino food, wine, and culture. Vintners, restaurants, community leaders, and supporters gathered for an evening rooted in connection and generosity, raising more than $650,000 to advance access to health care and whole-person care through AltaMed Health Services.

The funds raised will support AltaMed programs through the H.E.L.P. Powered by You Campaign, a six-year, $110 million campaign to strengthen health care and expand access to programs that address the needs of the whole person. To date, the campaign has raised $94 million toward its goal.

The evening's keynote speaker was Dr. Jonathan Guajardo, M.D., Site Medical Director. A graduate of the AltaMed Family Medicine Residency Program, Dr. Guajardo now oversees four clinics in Boyle Heights, including three located within public housing developments operated by the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles. His career reflects AltaMed’s commitment to developing health care leaders who understand and serve the communities they call home.

The impact of that commitment extends beyond the exam room. AltaMed’s clinical care teams provide comprehensive medical care while also asking patients about the circumstances that affect their health and well-being at home.

The AltaMed Foundation ensures that AltaMed Health Services has the resources to care for more than 650,000 patients per year — from Santa Ana to Pasadena and every community in between,.

When a patient faces an urgent financial need, providers can connect them to the Community Care Fund, which provides microgrants to help families address essential expenses.

Last year, donor support helped the Community Care Fund distribute more than 1,500 microgrants to patients across Los Angeles and Orange counties — helping families put food on the table, pay an important bill, and navigate unexpected financial challenges.

“Health care has become so expensive. In addition to the cost, it can be so hard to get in to see a doctor. AltaMed goes above and beyond to serve the community,” said Adam Devone of Beni Global, East L.A. Meets Napa’s title sponsor.

The Foundation extends its sincere thanks to Beni Global as well as Connoisseur sponsors Foundation Risk Partners, L.A. Care Health Plan, and Vincor Construction, Inc., whose generosity helped make the evening possible. Special appreciation also goes to the vintners, beverage partners, and restaurants who contributed to the event’s exceptional food and wine experience.

As the evening concluded, President and CEO Cástulo de la Rocha reminded guests that the work continues: “As we celebrate tonight, let us also remember the work ahead. Let us move forward with open eyes, with generous hearts, and with the shared belief that together, we can ensure health care remains a right for every family.”
