One year ago, the Los Angeles wildfires upended lives and reshaped entire communities. In the days that followed, AltaMed was present where the need was greatest — providing triage medical care at the Pasadena Convention Center, refilling prescriptions, and ensuring families had access to essential health services during an incredibly uncertain time.
Alongside trusted community and philanthropic partners, AltaMed worked to bring comfort, care, and stability to those impacted. The Eaton fire would ultimately kill at least 19 people and destroy more than 9,000 structures in Altadena and Pasadena, becoming the fifth-deadliest and second-most destructive wildfire in California history. This anniversary is a moment to reflect on that collective response and to listen to the voices of those who lived it, from patients and team members to the partners who helped make recovery possible.
