AltaMed regrets to inform you that our Golf Tournament has been canceled.
It is in response to Governor Newsom’s recommendation that seniors self-isolate within the State of California that we believe this is the most prudent decision. We are continuing to closely monitor the situation in Orange County, statewide and nationally.
AltaMed takes the health, well-being and safety of our community very seriously. We believe this is the best decision, as our local communities make difficult decisions within a dynamic environment.
Our Golf Tournament raises critical funds for our most-in-need patients in Huntington Beach who receive testing, prevention and treatment services for a spectrum of health concerns.
Given the severity of this crisis, our leadership would like to transfer your Golf contribution to the newly created AltaMed Response Fund, which directly supports those impacted by COVID-19. We anticipate needing at least $600,000 a day in additional operating funds to support expanded clinical operations in response to this crisis.
For participants who wish to have their golf contributions refunded, we will honor your requests. We will be issuing refunds in the form of credit card reversals and reimbursement checks in the coming weeks. Please email Elizabeth Romero at [email protected] by March 31 if you would like a refund. We will honor all refund requests and we ask for your patience, as our internal infrastructure remains tightly focused on our community’s safety during this time.
Please stay safe during these challenging times. Thank you so much for your understanding, flexibility, support and patience and for standing with AltaMed through one of the most challenging health crises of our time.
With Gratitude,
AltaMed Foundation
Out of an abundance of caution and concern for your health and well-being, we’ve modified the activities for this year’s golf tournament. The day’s activities will go on as scheduled, but we have decided it is in the best interest of our valued guests to cancel the celebratory dinner.
Now is a critical time for high-quality and affordable public health care to be accessible to our most vulnerable communities. At AltaMed, health care goes beyond a doctor’s visit. Factors such as food insecurities compormise a person’s health, and our Fund-A-Need program assists low-income families by providing fresh produce. We will hold our live- and silent-auctions through our mobile app and bidding will close at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17.
This decision was made by AltaMed medical leadership in alignment with recommendations from the Orange County Department of Public Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
During the day, golfers will be in small groups in an open air environment. Our team will provide plenty of hand sanitizers to minimize risk of infection. We also ask that anyone who is exhibiting cold-like symptoms refrain from joining us this day.
AltaMed Foundation appreciates the support from our golfers and sponsors who have supported this event over the last 15 years. We value your partnership and anticipate many more opportunities to come together. Rain or shine, we look forward to seeing you on Monday, March 16.
